YOUNG Liverpool striker Samed Yesil is out for the rest of the season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.
The 18-year-old frontman was injured on international duty for Germany Under-19s last week and a scan has confirmed the Reds’ worst fears. Yesil will undergo surgery and face a lengthy rehabilitation programme. He will be sidelined for at least six months.
It’s a cruel setback for the youngster who joined Liverpool for £1million from Bayer Leverkusen last summer.
Yesil made his first team debut in the League Cup win over West Brom back in September and also featured in the defeat to Swansea a month later.
