CAPENHURST Villa made it through to the semi-final of the West Cheshire Bowl after an extra-time winner from Carl Lad-brooke was enough to beat Blacon YC 3-2.

Chris Dodds and John Keefe netted Cape's normal-time goals with Matty Wilde and Jamie Rogers on target for Blacon.

Holders Cammell Laird Reserves lost 4-1 at home to Ashville Reserves, Mike Hannaway was in blistering form to bag a hat-trick.

They are joined in the final quartet by Heswall Reserves and Poulton Victoria Reserves.

In Division One, Christleton drew 1-1 at Castrol Social, Chris Herbert finding the net. Bottom club Helsby lost 3-1 at home to fellow strugglers Vauxhall Motors Reserves.

In Division Two, New Brighton beat Christleton's second string 2-0 with a neat double from Paul Robinson. Paul Hallows struck twice and was joined on the scoresheet by Ben Carrigan as MBNA beat Mond Reserves 3-0.

St Werburgh's (Liam Moroney 2) were beaten 5-2 in their local derby with Chester Nomads (Dave Harris, Chris Cutler, Mark Powell, Tommy Sutcliffe and Gary McNamara).

The league ended their interest in the FA National League System Cup after losing 2-0 in their second-round battle with the Mid Cheshire League.
