Grappenhall Sports 2 Tarporley Vics 1
VICS dropped out of the Division Two Challenge Cup and into the President’s Cup after slipping to defeat on Saturday.
After battling hard to keep the score 0-0 at half time and creating a couple of chances, the depleted visitors got off to a terrible start in the second half.
Sports netted to make it 1-0 and Alex Rowntree, who had started the game despite carrying an injury, had to be replaced by the livewire Edd Pattinson.
But the change paid dividends on 65 minutes when Pattinson levelled for Vics, Henry Buckley feeding Dan Haralambous who squared to Pattinson to score.
A corner provided Grappenhall with the winner, despite a late push by Vics.
Malpas 2 Crewe FC 3
CREWE netted a late winner to send Malpas crashing out of the Division Two Challenge Cup on Saturday.
The visitors took the lead but Simon Bradley equalised with a 25-yard curling shot and Malpas continued to dominate the half.
After the break, Malpas took the lead when Jack Oakden broke through the defence and made no mistake.
Malpas created further chances but all were squandered. They paid the price for their profligacy when Crewe got into gear and equalised in the 70th minute. There were only three minutes on the clock when they hit the winner.
Boss Robbie McWilliams said: “The lads are gutted, but we yet again missed chance after chance and got punished for our failure to convert.”
