SOUTHPORT will need to show a fair bit more than was on evidence at Rivacre Park on Saturday, when they begin their new campaign in the Nationwide Conference this Saturday.
The Motormen, however, look in fine shape ahead of the Nationwide North season after they recorded their fifth straight win.
Liam Watson's Sandgrounders began well enough and almost took a fifth-minute lead through former Motors hot-shot Fearns, but for a smart save low down to his right by Tim Dittmer.
Southport took the lead on 28 minutes, when Dittmer failed to cleanly take a corner. The ball fell to Terry Fearns and his shot was turned home by Daly from close range.
On 70 minutes Fearns looked certain to score against his former club, but his shot rebounded off the inside of an upright and across the face of goal, before a diving header by Robinson at the far post went narrowly wide.
But in the final quarter, it was the home side who looked the more menacing and on 80 minutes they deservedly equalised.
McGivern played a neat one-two with Cumiskey and then crossed for Vauxhall substitute Addo to slide home.
And in the closing minutes, the Motormen completed a superb fightback with a stunning winner from Cumiskey.
Not for the first time, his quick feet tormented the Southport defence, before looping a shot over Speare and in off the post.
