I never once saw Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley or Joe Fagan lay a hand on a player in training.
They could all let you know in no uncertain terms if you were letting them down – and would. But it never sank to the levels we’ve seen in those pictures.
It’s a sign, for all their wealth, things aren’t quite right at City.
As I say, a bit of spice and passion between team-mates is fine. But the manager losing it physically with a player? That’s well beyond the pale – and very rare.
