ROMA are willing to sell Fabio Borini to Liverpool but they have slapped an £11million price tag on the striker.
The Reds, who had hoped to land Borini for around £8million, are locked in negotiations with the Serie A outfit for the Italy international who could become Brendan Rodgers' first signing.
No deal is yet in place but Liverpool remain hopeful that an agreement for the 21-year-old can be reached before the end of the week.
“There is a real interest shown by Liverpool for Borini,” confirmed Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini.
“We are evaluating the situation with (Roma general manager) Franco (Baldini).”
Borini's agent Marco De Marchi added: "Roma has informed us of Liverpool’s interest in the boy. Now it’s up to Fabio to have his say.
“We were alerted by Roma of the existence of this deal. I cannot honestly tell you the details but, as Sabatini has already said, we’re now seriously considering it.
“Would the player want to go to Liverpool? Honestly, I don’t want to commit myself as there will be more news in the coming days.
“Wait for that.”
Roma plan to use the funds generated by selling Borini to buy Siena striker Mattia Destro.
