Where and when: Gresty Road, Saturday, August 18.

Nickname: The Dons.

Founded: 2004.

Manager: Paul Tisdale.

Team news: Midfielder Paul Green should be fit after missing the midweek cup game, and Crewe are hoping that captain George Ray will shake off his ribs injury in time to play. But forwards Shaun Miller and Chris Porter are more doubtful due to their knee injuries.

Conor McGrandles [eye], Peter Pawlett [ankle], Osman Sow [knee], Brandon Thomas-Asante [ankle] and Sam Nombe [ankle] are out for Dons, and Chuks Aneke is yet to feature after being linked with a move away.

David Artell says: “Paul (Tisdale) wouldn’t have left Exeter for them if they were content to finish in the play-offs. It should be a very good game because Paul likes his teams to play. Although it will be tough, these are the ones we should relish the most.

“It will be a good test and both teams will be looking for the three points. If we could win both of our opening home games then that would give everyone a right boost."

Paul Tisdale says: "Just looking at (Crewe's) performances so far you can't help but to sit up and pay attention to their 6-0 win over Morecambe. They have a bit of thrust about them, they have a dynamic front line, they still have a core football value and it will be a tough challenge.

"David Artell is proving to be a very efficient coach and I think there will be a new set of challenges for us at the weekend."

The lowdown: Relegated from League One in May, the Dons are looking to bounce back at the first attempt. And new manager Paul Tisdale, who has come close to promotion with Exeter City on a couple of occasions, is the man charged with the task of guiding them along the way.

They have started very well, and boast one of just three remaining 100% league records, after Ousseynou Cisse’s 90th-minute strike earned a 1-0 win over Ryan Lowe’s Bury at the weekend. And Dons beat Charlton n the Carabao Cup in midweek to make it four wins on the spin.

One to watch: Striker Kieran Agard is a real goal threat at this level.

Boasting Championship experience with Bristol City, he has a good record for MK, despite being part of a difficult two seasons there, and has already opened his account this term.

Last meeting: Inspired by Spurs and England star Dele Alli, the Dons ran riot when the sides met in January, 2015. Devante Cole (2), Dean Bowditch, Carl Baker and Daniel Powell did the damage in a 5-0 defeat for the Alex.

Memory Lane: Crewe edged the first meeting between the clubs – an FA Cup clash in November, 2007 - 2-1. Neil Cox and Chris McCready scored for the Alex.

Tickets: On sale from Gresty Road in advance and on the day, prices range from: Adults (£22-£20), senior citizens and disabled (£17-£15.50), 12-16 years (£10.50-£9.50), U-11s (£6.50-£6).
