VAUXHALL suffered yet another away defeat, to leave them struggling at the foot of the Conference North table.

A disappointing first-half performance left them playing for pride in the second half.

The Motormen began the match on the attack and Peter Cumiskey went close with a header in the first minute, but goalkeeper Williams gathered it at the second attempt.

However, just two minutes later the visitors were behind. A slick move down the left involving Smith saw him cut the ball to Edwards whose first-time shot gave Harrison no chance.

And on seven minutes it was 2-0 with Thomson breaking through the Vauxhall defence to set up Grayson.

The home side continued to dominate and on 27 minutes a ricochet off McNulty saw the ball fall for Smith, who tucked his shot beyond Harrison.

In the second half, Vauxhall were more purposeful and came close when McGivern's left-foot drive was tipped over the bar.

McNulty, McGivern and O'Don-nell all went close for Vauxhall late on, but they couldn't prevent them from slumping to another defeat.

Vauxhall: Harrison, Glendenning, McDermott (Moogan 50), Willis (O'Donnell 62), McNulty, Parra Dioni, Garrity, Lawton, Rooney, McGivern, Cumiskey (McNutt 76).

nOn Saturday, Vauxhall travel to Hednesford Town for the FA Cup fourth qualifying round, kick-off 3pm.
