CHESTER have rearranged their home meeting with Hereford United, which was postponed on Saturday after thawing snow waterlogged the Saunders Honda Stadium pitch.

The two sides will now meet on Tuesday, February 27 (7.45pm).

City's ground staff battled in vain from 6.30am on Saturday in a bid to get the Hereford game on.

Volunteers joined head groundsman Gary Kent and his team in brushing snow off the new, £11,000 frost covers that had protected the majority of the playing surface all week.

After an initial inspection by referee Lee Probert, the match was given the go-ahead - but with the kick-off moved back from noon to 1pm.

However, Probert carried out a second inspection just before 11am and reluctantly postponed the fixture as the rapidly thawing snow had made a section of the pitch waterlogged.
