HOWARD WEBB will referee Liverpool’s Premier League trip to Manchester United on Sunday.
The 41-year-old Yorkshireman last took charge of the highly-charged fixture at Old Trafford back in January 2011.
The third round FA Cup tie was Kenny Dalglish’s first game back at the helm but it ended in a 1-0 defeat. Webb awarded United a controversial early penalty and then sent off Steven Gerrard for a challenge on Michael Carrick.
Liverpool winger Ryan Babel was subsequently fined £10,000 by the FA for improper conduct after posting on Twitter a mocked up picture of Webb wearing a United shirt.
Webb was also in charge when Liverpool lost 3-2 at Old Trafford under Roy Hodgson in September 2010.
He refereed the Reds’ Boxing Day defeat at Stoke as well as games against Chelsea (1-1) and Arsenal (0-2) earlier this season.
