LINNETS boss Steve Carragher says he was 'angered and disappointed' by the lapses in discipline which saw his side finish with eight men at the weekend.

Mark Phillips and Jerome McIntyre were shown straight reds in the 2-1 extra-time defeat against lowly Holker Old Boys.

But Carragher's greatest wrath was saved for Thomas Lamb who received a second yellow for repeated dissent.

However, a backlog in FA disciplinary cases means all three players are likely to figure in Saturday's match at Norton United.

And Carragher also hopes to strengthen the squad in time for the weekend fixture with two new signings - left-back Paul Parr and centre-half Thomas Bowden from St Helens.

'The big game for us is Winsford and we need to be as strong as possible for then,' he said.

'I was very disappointed and angered by the lack of discipline at Holker. Thomas Lamb's sending off in particular wound me up. It is inexcusable to be dismissed for dis-sent.

'I have drummed it into the players time and time again that I won't tolerate anyone being booked, let alone sent off, for having a go at one of the officials.

'It was a stupid sending off and I was really frustrated that it happened.'

However, it was the bagful of missed chances at Holker which has given Carragher the most cause for concern.

He said: 'We had chances which we just didn't put away. We have got to put the ball into the back of the net.

'Sometimes I have to pinch myself because we have come so far in the last six months, but at the same time we cannot afford to lose games which we should be winning.

'Holker was a cup game and at least we haven't got to travel back up for the replay, but we should have won on Saturday and we can't continue to miss chances and lose games due to indiscipline.

'Sometimes we were laying off the ball instead of taking a shot and that was really frustrating.

'We should have put our chances away.

'Norton are a big side and well organised and we must make sure

we do not squander our chances against them.'

The Linnets entertain Winsford at Wincham Park on Tuesday (7.45pm) and will be hoping for a bumper crowd in this Cheshire derby. Admission is £5, £2 concessions.
