OLDHAM deserved to go through as they were the better side. They created more problems than Liverpool did but they were given a helping hand by referee Lee Probert.

There was a blatant foul on Daniel Sturridge which enabled Oldham to win back possession and led to their second goal.

Probert was stood 10 yards away and I don’t know how he missed it. The defender went straight through the back of Sturridge and didn’t get close to the ball.

It was an appalling decision, but Liverpool didn’t help themselves with what happened next.
