I FIND it absolutely amazing that you can get odds of 40/1 on Luis Suarez to be crowned PFA Players’ Player of the Year.
How is Suarez the outsider in a three-way battle with Robin van Persie and Gareth Bale?
Bale is the favourite and he has been fantastic for Spurs in recent months but the season started back in August.
For me, it should be between Suarez and van Persie, whose goals are firing Manchester United to the title. Van Persie has that ability to find space and pops up in dangerous areas. He just needs a second and his quality takes care of the rest.
I don’t think there’s a great deal between the contribution of Suarez and van Persie this season.
Suarez has been incredible and he does things the other two aren’t capable of.
I hope it comes down to what a player has done on the field this season. It would be sad if Suarez’s efforts weren’t recognised because of past indiscretions. Certainly, if we’re talking about diving then Bale has had problems too.
Suarez might miss out but he shouldn’t be as far behind as the bookies think.
