THE speed of Jamie Hand's Deva Stadium exit came as a surprise to Blues boss Bobby Williamson.

Hand, 23, sealed a move to Lincoln City last Friday, penning a two-year deal with the Sincil Bank club just 24 hours after being the subject of an enquiry from Imps boss John Schofield.

Williamson said: 'It came as a bit of a surprise really.

'Lincoln made an enquiry, we accepted what they offered and Jamie liked what he heard from their manager and decided to go, so we wish him all the best.

'Everybody's for sale if somebody comes in and makes an offer that we find acceptable.

'Jamie had an opportunity to stake a claim here and he's decided to go so we can't complain.'

Hand, a first-team regular under Mark Wright last season, started this campaign behind Tony Grant and Mark Hughes in the midfield pecking order.

The former Watford player made a winning debut for Lincoln on Saturday in their 3-1 success at Mansfield Town. His departure has gone some way to easing City's salary cap problems, clearing space on the wage bill for possible additions to the squad before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

On the prospect of new signings, Williamson said: 'You can never say never. A CV may land on my desk and I may find it attractive.

'So I won't say there won't be, and can't really say there will be.'
