THE battle for second in West Cheshire Division One saw Helsby slip-up with a 3-2 loss at in-form Castrol Social on Monday.

Despite goals from Connor Taylor and Lee Guirado it was at the back Helsby were lacking as Castrol took the points.

In Division Two Chester Nomads defeated Grange Athletic 3-0 with goals from Kieran Smith, Ilya Hancock and Mark Crossan.

Upton AA Reserves didn’t find it easy to take the points from visiting Blacon YC Reserves, Mark Thompson scoring in a 1-0 win.

On Saturday Upton’s first team missed out on a date with Castrol Social in the Pyke Cup final as they lost 4-2 at West Kirby.

Simon Andrews and Nathan Freeman scored to keep them in the hunt but they couldn’t match the Wirral side’s firepower.

Division One action saw Helsby beat Marine Reserves 3-1 at home, Connor Taylor (2) and Matty Johnson on target.

Chester Nomads made short work of West Kirby Reserves in Division Two, Mike Jeffs and Mark Crossan giving them a 2-0 victory.

In Division Three Blacon YC Reserves suffered a 4-0 home loss to Runcorn Town Reserves while Upton AA Reserves were beaten 2-0 by Manor Athletic.
