WEATHER was the winner over the weekend.

Barely any play was possible across South Cheshire as snow, ice and rain combined to make pitches unplayable.

No games went ahead in the Crewe and District League, while just one survived in the Sunday Regional League.

Boot & Shoe led 2-0 at half-time through Craig Parker and Ben Spruce in their Premier Division clash with Nantwich Wanderers. But the visitors

responded with a five-goal blast after the interval, with Andrew Witter, Stuart Furber and a James Lomas hat-trick earning a 5-2 success.

In the Cheshire and Border Counties League Division One, Horseshoe (Hardstaff, Dykes, OG) overcame Scholar Green (Grunner) 3-1.

In Division Two, Potting Shed (Mal-bank, Stoller 2, Lightowler, Lambert, Hope) beat Cumberland (Bostock 2, Jones) 5-3.

Meanwhile, in youth action, Alsager School's U13s girls kept their nerve to notch a dramatic extra-time win in the Cheshire Cup.

The Year 7 and 8 pupils had conceded just four goals in their entire county cup campaign, but could not find a way past Lymm High School in normal time in the final at Chester. But Evie Lambert popped up in extra-time to seal a super win for her side.

Nantwich Town U11s enjoyed an excellent 8-2 win over Eccleshall Eagles in the Cheadle and District League.

Owen Peters got four goals while Marcus Smithies, Callum Hood, Michael Truan and Gavin McKeith weighed in with one each.
