CHESTER City will run the rule over the former Rushden & Diamonds, Morecambe and Doncaster Rovers striker Justin Jackson this week, when the 28-year-old joins them for training.

The Nottingham-born target man, who is currently a free agent after being released by Accrington Stanley earlier this season, will join the City players at their training ground today.

"We've invited Justin in for training, and we intend to have a good look at him," said manager Mark Wright. "The player has a great pedigree and hopefully he will show us in training sessions."

Meanwhile, Chester are monitoring the position of the Shrewsbury Town utility player Ryan Lowe.

The Liverpool-based player, who is out of contract at the end of the season, joined Shrewsbury from Burscough three years ago, and it is thought that he would welcome a move back to his native North West.

Carl Ruffer, who has been out for four weeks with a knee injury, could return to training later this week.

The 29-year-old central defender sees a specialist tomorrow, and is hopeful of being given the all-clear to resume training.
