CHESTER FC boss Neil Young has a virtually fully fit squad to choose from for tonight’s big clash with title rivals Chorley at the Exacta Stadium (7.45pm).
The versatile Christian Smith is expected to return from injury meaning the Blues will be missing only Ashley Williams for the hotly-anticipated showdown.
Both sides received a boost last night when leaders Northwich Victoria lost for the first time this season.
Fourth-placed Chester will move up two places and within one point of top spot if they stretch their winning run in all competitions to seven matches.
Chorley, who have yet to lose away from home this season, will also be going all out for a victory which would haul them above Northwich and into pole position.
But to do that the Magpies will have to breach a defence that has kept six straight clean sheets.
John Danby’s run of 546 minutes without conceding a goal gives the goalkeeper a chance of breaking a long-standing club record this evening.
Grenville Millington currently holds the Chester record for the longest time without conceding a goal. The Blues legend went 590 minutes without being beaten in the 1974-75 season.
Chester manager Young said: “Chorley are a good team and we’ve had them watched. But we’re playing very well and we’ll be looking to continue our good form.”
Chorley boss Garry Flitcroft added: “I have watched them a couple of times and even though a number of their players left, they are still one of our main rivals for the league and it is going to be our biggest test.”
