Pledges and donations from Chester FC fans have helped the club's Crowdfunder project pass £6,000 inside four days.
The supporter-owned Blues hope to raise £20,000 through pledges and donations to boost the playing budget for the 2015-16 season.
Fans can make pledges via a special website in return for limited edition rewards including pin badges, mugs and signed prints.
Chester manager Steve Burr has been thrilled at the response, which allowed him to sign Dale Tonge on a short-term deal this week.
Burr said: "It's a great effort from the supporters because I know how difficult it is following your team through the season, it's not cheap but any among large or small that we can bring in all helps
"The money will go to the team, and obviously it's down to me and Jon (McCarthy) to use the money in the right way. It's got off to a great start and I'm delighted."
Known as 'Steve Burr had a dream', a reference to the popular terrace song, the project launched at 10am on Monday and closes at 6pm on August 31.
Every penny raised will be made available to the manager to spend before the current transfer window closes, or to keep in reserve for later in the season should he choose.
The club are planning to release details about new rewards in the coming days and donations can be made in person through the ticket office at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium.
Vanarama National League rivals Grimsby Town and Lincoln City have experienced success with crowd-funding schemes this summer.
