CHESTER City are expected to have further talks today with the Stalybridge Celtic midfielder Richard Peacock.
City placed a "seven day notice" on Stalybridge last Tuesday, informing them of their intention to have discussions with the player.
If an agreement can be reached, the former Hull City player could well be included in the Chester squad who travel to face promotion-chasing Boston United on Saturday.
Peacock, who is a non-contract player with Stalybridge, is thought to be looking for a permanent deal of 18 months duration with City.
Rushden & Diamonds have agreed that midfielder Michael McElhatton can extend his loan spell at the Deva Stadium.
The 27-year-old player's loan period is due to finish next week, and last night's agreement means the ex-Scarborough dynamo can stay with City until the final week of the Nationwide Conference season.
The only proviso placed on the agreement by Diamonds' boss Brian Talbot, is that he can invoke a 24-hour recall of the player, if the need arises.
Meanwhile, City goalkeeper Wayne Brown has linked up with his England colleagues, prior to this evening's non-League international against the USA at Stevenage Borough's ground.
If Brown plays, he will earn his fourth international cap at this level.
