CHESTER recorded only their fifth win of the season to ease their relegation worries and leave the Vixens seven points adrift at the bottom of the Northern Conference League.

Manager Steve Maddocks added new signings Lisa Standys, a former England youth international, and Isobel Pollard, another player with a vast amount of experience in the top flight, to the squad.

Chester led at the break when Helen McCann and Sarah Tyson combined to give Nichola Dunn a chance she accepted well.

With the wind at their backs in the second half, Chester gained in confidence and Pollard marked her debut with a goal from 25 yards to double the lead.

Just 15 minutes from time, Laura Edwards, with a huge goal-kick, found Pollard on Chester's right. She fed the ball through to Nick Berry, whose first-time shot was only parried by the Leeds keeper, leaving Helen Cann, who arrived unmarked into the penalty area, the easiest of tap-ins to clinch victory.

Wayne Gresty's reserves were also facing a tough challenge presented by second-placed Stockport County Blues in a Manchester and Cheshire League fixture.

Two goals down at half-time, things didn't look good for the home side. But changes in the second half and goals from Katie Wilson, Kelly Johnson and new Swedish signing Kajsa Fransson secured all three points.
