CHESTER Nomads stormed into the second round of the Cheshire Amateur Cup with a 5-1 victory at Barnton on Saturday.
Kieran Smith (2), Dale Harris, Ilya Haycock and Joe Cossins got the goals as Nomads produced one of their best performances of the season.
But it was an afternoon to forget for Blacon Youth Club as they lost 6-3 at home to Lostock Gralam.
The game was already over by the time Ross Broadbent, Sam Henry and Paul Dowridge struck for Blacon, who welcomed back Mike Gawthorpe after more than 12 months out with a broken leg.
The cup failed to provide struggling Tarporley Victoria with the springboard they have been searching for as they fell 4-2 at home to Capenhurst Villa.
A towering header from Sam Winter drew Vics level but they collapsed after the break and Capenhurst cruised through to round two with a Mike Urmston treble and Mark McAffrey single. Pete Aidley reduced the deficit late on.
Malpas were hammered 9-0 at Knutsford.
Malpas have re-signed Eddie Barlow and have made an approach for Whitchurch Alport’s George Haller.
Improving Upton AA moved up to 13th in West Cheshire League Division One on Saturday with a 2-1 win at Marine Reserves.
Top scorer Simon Andrews and John Hariky were the men on target.
Upton Reserves (Nathan Freeman 2, Ionut Boldea, Dinu Maghici) went down 5-4 at home to Belfry in Division Three.
Chester Nomads Reserves (Benito Apollonio) and Capenhurst Villa Reserves also lost, 2-1 at South Liverpool and 1-0 at Merseyside Police respectively. Christleton Reserves (Steve Finlay, OG) drew 2-2 at New Brighton Reserves.
Helsby (Ryan Horsefield, Danny Warren) were beaten 7-2 at home by Hale in the Youth Division.
