PAUL Carden expects a good kicking on his Peterborough United debut tomorrow - and he can't wait!
Carden is anticipating a tough-tackling reception from his former Chester City team-mates on the opening day of the League Two season.
But the 26-year-old is confident he will be the one wearing a huge grin at the end of 90 competitive minutes.
Carden, who left Chester for Posh on a free transfer in the summer, said: 'I obviously know plenty of the lads at Chester and I expect some of them will target me.
'I don't mind that because you don't go out and kick bad players and if the opposition are targeting me, we have plenty of others who will be free to cause problems.
'It is a special game for me to make my Posh debut against my old club, but I will be concentrating on doing my best for the team.
'At the end of the day, there are only three points available and that's all I'm really interested in. Chester will be a tough test as they've signed a few new players in the summer to add to top-quality ones like Michael Branch that they already had.
'But if we play our game then I am confident we can win. We have looked pretty good in pre-season and we are all raring to go.
'I love to get the first game out of the way because it signals the end of pre-season training and that means no more running!'
Carden - City's player-of-the-season last term - spent five years at Chester, the final two-and-a-half as first-team captain after Wright gave him the armband. nPosh winger Adam Newton, striker Calum Willock and midfielder Adam Fry have all been ruled out tomorrow because of injury.
