IAN CALLAGHAN will join a number of other Anfield legends at Southport Theatre on October 7 for the Bill Shankly Anniversary Show.
It’s 30 years since the iconic manager died and Cally will be joined on stage by Ian St John, Ron Yeats and Chris Lawler.
They will once again hear the granite tones of their old boss resonate as the show features audio clips of the great man never before heard publicly.
The Shankly sound archive has been made available to the show’s writer and producer John Keith by blind former headmaster Frank McFarlane who conducted one of the last major interviews with Shankly.
Callaghan said: “I think the hairs on the back of our neck will stand up when we hear the boss’s voice boom out again.
“The years are going to roll away. It will take me back to when I first met him shortly after he became manager in December 1959.
“It will also be a trip down memory lane for Ian, Chris and big Ron. It’s going to be a special, emotional night for all of us, including the audience.
“The amazing thing is that during the 30 years since Shanks left us his legend has grown even stronger. There will never, ever be anyone like him and we are all proud and privileged to have known him and played for him.”
