WITH a cluster of Crewe and District FA Cup ties taking place on Sunday, only five Crewe Regional League matches went ahead.

Premier Division pacesetters Bentley motored past Audlem Town 6-0 with Scarlett hitting a hat-trick, Jones a brace and Brooks a single. Betley moved into second place after squeezing past Wrenbury 4-3.

Tong, Chapman, Archer and White were on target for Betley with Bossons, Phillips and O'Neill replying for Wrenbury.

Willaston White Star stayed in touch with the front-runners after a 7-2 thumping of Wick-stead. Hilditch hit a hat-trick and Bache and Murrell netted braces, while Hancock and Varley grabbed consolations for Wickstead.

In the First Division, Beeston surprisingly slipped up 2-1 against the Peacock, whose success came courtesy of goals from Charles-worth and Newton.

The only other game, between The Vine and Clay Lane, had to be abandoned after 42 minutes following an accidental collision between the referee and a Vine player, which saw the official unable to continue.
