AFTER their brilliant performance to beat leaders Alderley Edge seven days ago, Neston flopped against Chris-tleton at Parkgate when they were bowled out for 62, the season's lowest tally in the ECB Premier Division of the Murray Smith Accountants Cheshire County League.
The newly-promoted Chester village club were on top throughout, posting 200-5 with 64 from Maroof Khan.
Neston's reply was a disaster. Maroof Khan (3-7 off six overs) backed by former Wales seamer Alex Barr with 4-23 shot them out for 62.
Oxton restored morale with 17-run home win over Hyde after setting 210-7. The return of experienced left-hander Peter Benson (55 not out) added solidity to their mid-order, while skipper Neil Cross weighed in with 46.
Hyde's usually strong batting failed to master either the pace of Andy Birley (3-35) or spin veteran John O'Brien (3-21) and their last wicket fell at 193.
Alderley Edge handed out a 10-wicket beating to Nantwich as Cheshire opener Mark Currie made 105 out of 147-0.
With Bowdon unable to make a start in their fixture at Poynton due to rain, Oulton Park took the opportunity to return to top place with a winning draw at Widnes.
Park posted 258-7, Steve Selwood 72, Andy Robinson 43, Steve Titchard 4-69, Bapa Mukherjee 3-88. Widnes reached a comfortable 207-7. Former Liverpool all-rounder Mukherjee (53) showed his batting skills alongside Tony Hurdley (42) and Titchard (41).
Only two hours' play was possible in Chester Boughton Hall's game at Toft before rain intervened. Chester had reached 118-3 (Steve Ogilby 38 no).
