NANTWICH were on the wrong end of the best all-round performance of the season in the ECB Premier Division at Didsbury on Saturday.
Aussie all-rounder Tom Maher slammed 98 before taking 5-38 to help his side record an 84-runs victory.
Nantwich skipper Andy Newton won the toss and put Didsbury in to bat, and the Dabbers performed well to dismiss their hosts for 202 in just under 53 overs.
With pace ace Barrington Browne away on holiday, Chris Hampshire led the attack and did so in style, taking 6-50 in an excellent spell.
But Nantwich were unable to take the wicket of Queenslander Maher until he was two short of a century, and with Jahingir Abbass adding 56, Didsbury managed to post a tally beyond the 200 mark.
Hampshire also opened the batting for Nantwich and made a useful 26, but the dismissals of middle-order batsmen Jeff Maynard and Ray Doyle for ducks and Oliver Sadler for a single left the Dabbers dangling at 39-5.
Wickets continued to fall despite rear-guard efforts from Lee Prince (20), Matt Anderson (17) and Philip Stockton (11no), and Nantwich were eventually dismissed for 118 in the 46th over.
The Dabbers make the short trip to Chester Boughton Hall this Saturday.
Nantwich Seconds suffered a disappointing seven-wicket defeat in the reverse fixture.
Nantwich posted 127-9 (Neil Forster 32, Nick Massey 25) but Didsbury knocked off the runs at 129-3.
Alsager romped to a nine-wicket home win over struggling Cheadle Hulme in their Division One match.
Mark French claimed 4-46 as Alsager skittled Cheadle Hulme for just 97 and overseas star Ashwin Punja (42no) and Steve Armitage (40no) guided Alsager to victory just after tea. Nantwich are holding two coaching weeks for youngsters later this summer.
The Dabbers' ECB-qualified head coach Dave Sadler will run the courses with Dave Ferris.
Between July 26 and July 30, youngsters aged between seven and 11 are invited to attend the club's Whitehouse Lane base for training and games, with a similar course for children aged 12 to 15 taking place between August 2 and August 6.
The cost for each week is £50 for club members or £60 for non-members.
