DEAN Bedson was named Haslington CC's batsman of the year at an awards dinner on Friday.
The event was held in the club's Clay Lane clubhouse and members enjoyed a hot-pot supper and entertainment by comedian Bobby Kaye.
Bedson (pictured), who cracked 554 runs at an average of 30.94 in a disappointing 2005 season for Haslington as they were relegated from the Pipemaster North Staffs and South Cheshire League Division One, was presented with the first team batting prize by chairman Mike Trevor.
Other award winners were: Richard Brown (1st team bowling); John Clayton (2nd team batting); John Gledhill (2nd team bowling); Anthony Phipps (3rd team batting); Gary Davies (3rd team bowling); Richard Smirk (U18s batting); Tom Gledhill (U18s bowling); Paul Dalton (clubman of the year); Ben Tomlinson (most improved player).
A Haslington spokesman added: 'In addition to the individual awards, gifts were made to the members of the ground staff and the ladies committee, in recognition of their contributions throughout the year.'
