TCS Chester Jets continued their rich vein of form leading into Saturday's BBL Trophy Final with a hard-fought 95-90 victory over Sheffield Sharks on Sunday.
Chester opened up a commanding lead in the second quarter with an 18-3 tear that took the score out to 46-25. Sheffield came back in the third period with a 10-2 run of their own to trim the deficit back to 11 at 57-46. In the final period, Sheffield clawed their way back into the game and Justin Phoenix and Lynard Stewart buckets gave the visitors a one-point advantage at 84-83 with 3.35 minutes remaining in the game.
Both sides traded baskets going into the dying seconds and with the Jets ahead by a single point at 91-90, Michael Nurse sealed the victory for the Jets with four consecutive free-throws.
John McCord led all scorers with an impressive 33-point haul for the Jets, while Stewart led the Sharks scoring with 23.
