JETS rounded off the regular season with a high-scoring win over Essex last night.
Paul Smith’s men, who had won at London on Saturday to secure fourth place in the BBL table, are now looking forward to a mouthwatering playoff quarter-final against Everton Tigers at the Northgate this Sunday (6.30pm).
They go into that game in fine form, with last night’s victory being their third in the space of a week.
Chez Marks led the scoring with 23 points, with Calvin Davis providing the early spark on his way to 16 points.
Davis opened the game with consecutive three-pointers for the Jets as they took a 6-0 lead. When Davis made his third triple, after a little over three minutes, the score was 11-2 to the hosts.
A blistering opening had the Jets ahead at 27-14 after just 10 minutes.
The Chester hosts never looked back from that point and always held a double-digit lead.
They pushed home their advantage in the second stanza as Davis opened it with another three, and the teams traded baskets until Marks scored five points in a row within the last two minutes of the half to push the lead to 54-32.
There was little further to report in the second half, as the closest the visitors got was 19 points.
The lead reached its peak at 97-57 in the fourth quarter after consecutive Phil Brandreth baskets as the Jets fell just short of the century.
