SHAWN Myers and Colin O’Reilly led the Jets to victory over the Rocks at the Northgate Arena last night.
The duo hit 20 points apiece in a hard-fought success which was achieved after one period of overtime.
Chez Marks (19) also stepped up for Paul Smith’s side, who remain fourth in the BBL standings, eight points behind table-topping Sheffield Sharks but with four games in hand.
Jets coach Smith said: “I am both delighted and mightily relieved to have got this result, which is a reward for the team that never gave up. It will no doubt set us up well for the important games we have coming up in the next few weeks.”
There was little to choose between the sides in the opening half, with the Jets edging the first period by a point before the Rocks roared back in the second to take a 39-32 lead into the locker rooms.
That lead significantly increased in a one-sided third period and, after 30 seconds of the fourth, the hosts found themselves 23 points down at 66-43.
But the Jets made a brave 23-7 run to slice their Scottish opponents’ advantage to just seven points before ultimately winning the period 31-10 to take the match into a thrilling passage of overtime, which Marks settled with some cool work from the free-throw line.
