Subject: Sharia law for UK?

The head of British Judiciary in England and Wales, Lord Nicholas Phillips says Islamic law could play a part in the legal system here.

On principle I guess there should now be Buddhist courts, Hindu courts, Mormon courts and any other sort of court that some group of idiots think that they can get away with to circumnavigate British law.

Great Britain heh – more like a great muddle.

Subject: Church weddings for divorcees

I don’t really see why any Church would want to turn away a couple that wanted to get married in a Church, especially when realistically a lot of people are getting married in a Church because it’s a “pretty” church or traditional and I’m sure that at heart vicars, priests, reverends etc know this really.

We had this at a local church some years ago. The Diocese left it to the Vicar’s discretion in consultation with the PCC. I think the point of the interview was to ascertain the situation with the previous marriage, ie. that they weren’t at fault and had tried everything they could etc and weren’t going to make the same mistakes again.
