WREXHAM County Borough Council has launched a campaign aimed at recruiting school crossing patrol staff.

The authority is looking for enthusiastic people to become part of the school crossing patrol service at various locations.

Candidates are being asked to give one-and-a-half to two hours a day to provide a safe crossing for children and pedestrians on their way to and from school.

School crossing patrol workers can earn anything from £6.30-6.50 per hour. Uniform and equipment is provided and the job offers numerous training opportunities.

School crossing patrol workers are urgently needed at Penycae Infants School, Dean Road, Rhostyllen, and Fairy Road. Anyone who is interested in applying for one of the positions needs to be available from 8.15am to 9.15 am and 2.45pm to 3.45pm on schooldays.

David Bithell, lead member for environment and transport, said: “School crossing patrols do a vital job in keeping children safe as they arrive at and leave schools every day. They provide a vital service to the community and it can be a very rewarding job. The council provide excellent training.

“I would encourage people to get in contact with the council to find out more.”
