A 60-YEAR-OLD milkman suspected of dealing drugs was arrested after police raided his Winsford home.

Officers seized a number of wraps of white powder, thought to be cocaine or speed, after searching a property on Weaver Street at 5.20pm on Friday.

But as police attempted to arrest the man a scuffle broke out and the suspect, along with a 45-year-old Winsford-based PC, fell down a flight of stairs.

A police spokesperson said: “During the course of the arrest a struggle ensued and a police officer received a broken finger and bruising to his upper body.”

The milkman was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drugs offences, and on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.

“He has been given police bail until June 15 pending further investigation,” said the police spokesperson.
