A CHESHIRE police officer charged with the murder of his fiance has been remanded in custody by magistrates in Bolton today, Monday.
Former PC Martin Forshaw, known as Alex, is accused of killing 31-year-old bride-to-be Claire Howarth. The 26-year-old was based at Cheshire police’s headquarters on Oakmere Road. He resigned on Saturday.
Miss Howarth, a PC for Greater Manchester Police (GMP), was in a BMW which crashed on Thursday, May 7 in Harwood, Bolton.
A post-mortem examination revealed she had died from head injuries. But her injuries were not consistent with the collision, a police source said.
Forshaw appeared at Bolton Magistrates Court today, Monday, and was remanded in custody until May 18, when he will appear at Manchester Crown Court.
