AGE Concern Cymru is looking to recruit volunteer Nordic Walking instructors aged 50 and above in Wrexham to train and inspire older people in the pastime.

Nordic Walking involves walking with a pole held in each hand to enhance the health and fitness benefits.

Glenn Little, Age Concern Cymru’s physical activity development officer said: “We are looking for people with a good enthusiasm and excellent communication skills to train and inspire people over the age of 50 to start Nordic Walking. North Wales has some of the best walking routes in the whole of the UK so it is an ideal place to set up Nordic Walking projects.

“The volunteers would need to take up to two classes a week of two hours duration for maybe 25 weeks of the year. This is a volunteer role, but we will meet all out of pocket expenses.”

All the volunteers will undergo a two-day training course at the Elan Vallley Lodge near Rhayader in Powys on August 13 and 14.
