POLICE are appealing for information after cigarettes worth £2,500 were stolen from the back of a delivery lorry.

Two men raided the back of the lorry, which was parked on the forecourt at Beechley Service Station in Kingsmills Road, Wrexham, between 7.20-7.30am last Thursday, while the driver was at the back of the shop.

The thieves stole two boxes containing £2,500 worth of cigarettes and cigars and ran off down Kingsmills Road before turning into Bury Street, where it is believed they got into a silver Ford Galaxy vehicle and drove off.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or seen two men running along Kingsmills Road carrying boxes to contact them.

And they are keen to hear from anyone who has been offered cigarettes or cigars for sale.

PC Arron Williams said: 'This road can get busy at this time of the morning as lots of people are on their way to work. We would urge anyone who may have seen these two men or the silver Ford Galaxy to get in touch with us.' Anyone with information is asked to contact PC 2186 Arron Williams at Wrexham Police Station on 0845 607 1002 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
