THOUSANDS of people made a bee line for Arley Hall and the Gardens at the weekend to bag a few bargains and generally soak up the heady delights of the annual garden festival.

A festival spokesman said the event had been a fantastic success with numbers up on previous years, a just reward for all those months of careful planning.

Star of the show was television flying gardener presenter Chris Beardshaw who charmed young and old alike with his expert and often witty advice.
