WREXHAM council housing tenants may be eligible to have their gardens maintained following a review of the Assisted Gardening Scheme agreed by councillors.
Tenants in receipt of Disability Living Allowance (Care or Mobility Component), Attendance Allowance, Constant Attendance Allowance or Mobility Allowance and who have no relatives living within the county borough or tenants who are part of the Blue Badge Scheme and also have no relatives in the county borough, can now apply to be part of the scheme.
There is no minimum age requirement.
The review also took into account tenants’ views and from these the scheme will now consist of five cuts and two hedge cuts per property throughout the year.
Sherratt Landcape Contractors Ltd will undertake the work on behalf of Wrexham council.
Cllr Mark Pritchard, the lead member for housing and planning, said: “The Assisted Gardening Scheme is a huge help to tenants who do not have any other means of tending their gardens.
“I would encourage anyone who thinks they may be eligible for support to contact their housing estate office.”
