ONE of Northwich’s oldest retailers will celebrate a century in the town next month.
Live music and Bucks Fizz will be on offer to shoppers on Saturday, September 13, to mark the 100th birthday of the Marks & Spencer store.
And children can join in the celebrations, with face painters and a quiz in the afternoon.
“We are very excited to be celebrating our 100-year anniversary in Northwich,” said store manager Celia Roberts. “Marks & Spencer has contributed to community life over the last 100 years and we have many loyal customers in the area.
“We hope they come and join us on the day to enjoy the celebrations as much as we plan to.”
The company arrived in Northwich in 1908, when a penny bazaar opened at 21 High Street. In 1933 a new store opened with a Tudor-style front next to Woolworths on Witton Street, before moving to its current premises in 1992.
