STAFF at a Wrexham residential home are celebrating their clean sweep which has earned them a fifth ‘five star hold’ food hygiene award.

Chirk Court Residential Home, a 35-bedroomed care home run by Clwyd Alyn Housing Association, part of the Pennaf Housing Group, has been awarded the top rating for food hygiene in a scheme run by Wrexham County Borough Council in partnership with the national Food Standards Agency of Wales.

Chirk Court had already worked hard to achieve four gold awards on the run, and now it has gone one better, clinching the top grade listing a fifth time, which puts the home alongside the best restaurants and hotels in the UK for food hygiene.

The inspection reports the home as having “excellent standards of hygiene, a high standard of compliance with food hygiene legislation and highly confident in management”.

Chirk Court manager Nesta Yorke said: “We’re thrilled to bits to achieve the top grade again.

“It’s all down to a brilliant team of cooks and kitchen assistants, who do a fantastic job.”
