SUPER slimmer Amanda Jones competed in the semi-finals of Slimming World's Woman of the Year 2005.
She fought off stiff competition from 250,000 Slimming World members to get to the semis, held in Derby.
Amanda, who won the title of Rhosnesni Slimming World's Woman of the Year, didn't make it to the next stage, but was delighted to have been selected. She was also thrilled to meet TV detective DS Phil Hunter, alias Scott Maslen, who stars in ITV's police drama The Bill.
Scott said: 'Everyone has shown such courage and determination to make the life changes that have brought them here today.'
Amanda said: 'I had a fantastic day. After being weighed in at a loss of 4st 6lb, I was thrilled to have my photo taken with Scott Maslen. He told me how fabulous I looked and asked me how much weight I had lost, it made me feel like a million dollars!'
In the first round, competitors were placed in five groups of eight, each with a group of judges, and given five minutes to talk about their experiences.
Amanda had to speak in front of an audience of 150, but Slimming World consultant Karen Wood was there to support her.
Karen said: 'I felt so proud of her, she looked sensational, wearing a size 10 dress which she bought in the summer, having gone from size 20 to size 14 - that's how confident she was about her goal.
'She spoke with humour and passion about her weight loss, telling the judges how much free food she eats and how it has all been achieved while keeping to her tight budget due to her being currently on a career break.
'Amanda told them that she has gone to the group session every single week since joining in January and what fantastic support she has had from members and myself. She has been an inspiration to all of us.'
Amanda was presented with a framed certificate and personalised bottle of champagne.
The final 10 were then announced, with weight losses ranging from 6st 13lb to 19st 8lb.
Amanda said the day had made her feel proud and inspired her to reach her dream of losing five stone before the end of November.
'I was so proud to qualify for the district final,' she said. 'I told the judges how Slimming World had transformed my life, changing my eating habits and my fitness. I eat more now than I did before, I love all the unlimited free foods, so do my family. My husband Barry has also lost a stone and a half!'
