High-summer creativity will be the name of the game at this year’s show as three exciting new features are introduced, challenging designers and school children to showcase their talent and originality.

The new categories are: RHS Young Designer of the Year Competition, Visionary Gardens and The Wonderful World of Vegetables.

The young designer category aims to encourage emerging UK gardening talent and the RHS has selected three entrants to design an ambitious garden for display at the show. Competitors will each receive £12,000 of funding to realise their gardens as they battle it out to win the title.

Six innovative garden designers have been selected from a list of hopefuls to win a place in the new Visionary Gardens category.

This new competition encourages an emphasis on artistic concepts, future fashions and trends, environmental implications, such as climate change, and the use of sustainable materials.

Finally, school children will be entering the new Wonderful World of Vegetable competition to show off their horticultural handy work. With the aim to get youngsters thinking about vegetables and healthy eating, the competition will harness creativity and imagination, with children growing their favourite vegetables and herbs and then displaying them in a variety of exciting and adventurous ways.

As well as all of this, the RHS Show Tatton Park boasts a wealth of visitor favourites, including the colourful RHS/Ball Colegrave National Flower Bed Competition, inspirational garden designs by up and coming designers, nurseries and growers.

It takes place between July 22 and 26, with July 22 reserved for RHS members.

Tickets are priced from £19 for RHS members and £22 for public tickets in advance or £24 on the day.

Children 16 and under go free with accompanying adult.
