SOME of the photos in an exhibition marking the 75th anniversary of The Grange School, Hartford, have been raising a few eyebrows.

Showing how attitudes to fashion have changed, teacher Mrs Brenda Stockton had no reservations about displaying legs during lessons.

The exact date of the photograph is not documented, but she is known to have been a teacher at the school during the period 1963-1976 when Mr Ian Newton was headmaster. Judging by the mini skirt, Mrs Stockton’s lesson was probably photographed in the late 1960s.

From its small beginnings in 1933 when teacher Mrs Helen Perry taught the ‘3Rs’ to a handful of children, The Grange has progressed to becoming one of the nation’s leading independent schools.
