A NORTHWICH schoolgirl was placed on an action plan order after she admitted stealing a member of staff’s mobile phone.

The teenager, who cannot be named, stole the Samsung phone from 24-year-old Alex Twyford’s handbag during a maths lesson.

Vale Royal Youth Court heard Miss Twyford, who was supervising the class in the absence of their usual teacher, left the room momentarily and left belongings on her desk.

The phone, worth £150, was missing when she returned. Each pupil was asked by the deputy head to write statements of what happened and the majority identified the defendant as the perpetrator.

The girl was placed on a three-month action plan to be drawn up by the Cheshire youth offending team and her mother was ordered to pay for the replacement of the phone.
