WREXHAM MP Ian Lucas has welcomed proposals put forward by the Government to reform MPs’ expenses.

Under them, the current Additional Accommodation Expenditure – also known as the ‘second homes allowance’ – will end and be replaced by a flat-rate daily allowance. Claims for other household items will also be halted.

The proposals have been made to the Committee on Standards in Public life, and the Prime Minister has also asked the Committee – which is currently reviewing MPs’ expenses – to look into the issue of the transparency of MPs’ second incomes.
