WREXHAM manager Denis Smith has asked to dip into a "Beer a Week" fund to cover the costs of signing new goalkeeper Mike Ingham.
The fund was established 18 months ago by Wrexham Independent Supporters (WINS), whose members pay an average of £10 per month to provide funds for the Racecourse boss to strengthen his squad.
It's the first time this season that Smith has asked for assistance.
Former Northern Ireland under-21 international Ingham has joined the Dragons on a month's loan from Sunderland after Racecourse number one Andy Dibble broke his arm last weekend.
But Smith's request for cash has yet to be approved because WINS representatives are pushing club chairman Mark Guterman to consider selling some shares to the group and also to agree to some popular representation on the club's board of directors.
Yesterday Smith said "I've asked WINS if they can help me out but I'm still waiting for an answer."
Last night WINS chairman Rob Owen said Smith's request would be considered by a meeting ahead of Saturday's home game against Swindon Town.
