AN ELLESMERE Port company has won a major contract to develop the world’s first mobile chemotherapy unit of its kind.
Event Marketing Solutions (EMS), based in Little Stanney, has developed it for leading Welsh cancer charity Tenovus.
The enormous, 13.6 metre long mobile unit will deliver life-saving treatments to patients in their own communities – removing the practical and emotional strain of travelling long distances.
The hi-tech vehicle will also be used to provide practical support, counselling, screening and prevention services – complementing the charity’s planned network of local support centres.
The innovative project was developed in response to the growing issues cancer patients face, such as the time and cost of travelling to treatment.
In addition to this, Wales has a 22% higher incidence of cancer than England, so the need for this service is clear.
EMS was awarded the contract following a formal tendering process.
