POLICE in Northwich are asking residents to consider their travel plans for July 5.

The Northwich Carnival is set to wind its way through the streets of the town and, while officers will work to keep disruption to a minimum, this will have an effect on the flow of traffic in the area.

Sergeant Tony Jones, of Northwich Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said: “The procession starts at Denton Drive at about 1pm and is set to finish at Verdin Park at 2pm.

“There will be disruption to other road users as closures will be in place around the town to ensure the carnival can pass through safely.

“This disruption is regrettable, but safety has to be our primary concern and I would ask all other road users to be patient and considerate during this period.”

He added: “We anticipate that people wanting to drive through Northwich between midday and mid-afternoon will experience delays and I would advise all motorists to seek an alternative route.”
