The Winsford Weaver Winter League has begun in earnest and Proteck Barlows produced the winner, the third-placed anglers, topped the team weights and took an early lead in the league which comprises seven teams of five. Winner off peg 195 was Ian Shaw with 13-9-0.

Northwich’s Weaver Mini-League has 15 teams of three and Edgeley Sports are the early pacesetters, winning the team aggregate thanks to a healthy 19-11-0 caught on town centre peg 11 by Tony Evans.

John Warburton needed only to fish one of the two legs of the Northwich Local Cup over the holiday to take the trophy.
